baniels 4TSE build

Post  baniels on Fri Mar 11, 2011 9:39 pm

I figure it's time to make a build thread, now that I have some pictures to show. I finally picked up my MDF from the CNC shop last night. I will begin gluing this weekend. Design thoughts, concept renders, and other minutiae can be found at at baniels.com, where I've been keeping a little diary of the project. It has taken a few different (imaginary) forms since I first chose the design back in December. I'll update this thread with pictures as I make progress - ramblings and whatnot will go in the blog.

The front baffle will be granite and instead of veneer I will be using a textured faux leather vinyl fabric. I believe I will be bordering all edges with metal angle.

Most impressive with all the CNC parts. I'm looking forward to seeing this build, especially with the granite baffles.

Making some progress with the gluing. I just got the rear piece for one cabinet glued up over lunch using every one of my clamps. Could have used a few more, but when is that not the case?

It looks to me like your CNC work was done very well. The parts are fitting nicely.

The parts were done pretty well. They were within my expectations, but not quite as perfect as my drawings Very Happy.

Here's my helper.

Gluing the outer top to the mid chamber, then the mid chamber and top together to the cabinet.

If you want to read my captions (warning: they aren't that interesting) you can read them here.

Nice work. You know it's not hard to install the foam after the entire box is built, given the number of holes and easy access to each area of the inside of the box.

I thought about that at first. But it was just to easy to get it out of the way with it all open.

Just make sure to get any dust out of the foam before you install the drivers.

I will do that. What would the dust do?
