Hi.

First up can I add my compliments (to that of everyone else's) to Jed for his customer service. Jed has developed for me a custom cabinet design to suit my proposed HT. I wanted to use the 1S for surrounds but wanted the cabinet 'flat' so it could sit against, or in, the wall. Jed has done a crossover to suit on-wall placement, which is now mentioned on his website.

So Jed redesigned the 1S for me. You can get an idea of its dimensions from the pictures. (It's about 42" tall). ...

Come January, I will have a speaker on display at Response Audio in Endicott, NY. I'm working on a 3 way speaker to showcase my designs. So anyone interested in hearing a Clearwave speaker before buying a kit, now will be a great chance to hear what is offered. I will try to have at least 1 or 2 designs for audition at any given time. Should be a lot of fun!

To go along with my 2Ts built last winter and my 2CC that is currently being built, I have started on the 1S speakers to round out my HT. I will be building these at the same time as the centre. As per usual, I've made a few changes to the design. In the case of the 1S, these changes are minor when compared to the centre and mains. I will rear port them and build the front baffle to the same design as the 2T and 2CC (with a roundover and truncated at the bottom to allow some veneer on the ...

Alright. I've been rather cautious with my approach for the 1s. I want it to be absolutely perfect for a variety of different people. It will now be in a PE curved MTM cabinet. DIY cabinet builders can build a square box version as long as the front baffle layout is the same. There will be a PVC pipe insert to separate the mid chamber from the woofer section of the box. More to come this weekend. This may very well be my best seller because it'll have the sound of the rest of the Dynamic ...

Next will be a new 2 way using the Scan Speak 15W coated woofer and Scan Speak HDS tweeter. It'll use a RBR type box. Since the RBR is getting so much attention I thought I'd do something similar with the nice HDS tweeter for when they run out at madisound.

Your diagrams do not show where these should be and there are no photo's of the rear of the finished speakers (4CC,4T,1S). Do I cut a hole completely out for the speaker binding plate or is a recess cut into the MDF and small holes drilled out for the wire to pass thru to the cabinet? The other question I have is; for the speaker ...

It uses the Vifa XT25 double magnet tweeter, SB Acoustics 5" mid, and Dayton RS270s woofers, and shallow slope crossovers with a very nice flat FR. These are just a joy to listen to. They use the same box format as the Duet10ss, the only thing they give up is the lesser price tag, and a not quite as much detail and bass extension as the Duet10ss.
I'm pleased to announce I have the crossover developed for the inwall 4CC and 4T crossover after taking extensive new measurements with the drives mounted in the intended applications.

See attached. The Gray response is the in wall (IB) format with the crossover in place and the Orange response is if the speaker baffle protrudes out of the wall by 3" with an optimized crossover for that as well.

1.) Operate speakers in their lowest harmonic distortion passbands. For example, in my Dynamic Series, I feel that the RS180 is best used in the bass/midbass. I've found that they aren't all that great above ...

I just ordered some new drivers for the Tombstones. The bass section will get ported with the Seas L26ROY. I'm really excited about this woofer.

Mids are going to be a pair of the Scan Speak 15W4531G. The Illuminator mids would have been interesting if they had enough sensitivity or if they had a FR that I need for this cabinet diffraction profile. The excellent 15W4531G is a better fit IMO, for this specific application.

The tweeter will be the amazing Illuminator Air Circ 6620 ...

Hi Jed,

I have a question about the 4T layout. It concerns the internal solid brace that is the back of the Midrange and Tweeter section. On the drawing it shows that the vertical solid brace is situated 7 1/4 inches from the back panel of the speaker. Horizontial brace Type A has a cutout opening to the rear chamber. As per the drawing this would place the solid internal brace (rear of midrange & tweeter section) over top of the brace Type A opening by an 1 inch. Should I move the solid ...

The name part I'm not sure about yet, but one thing is certain. The Tombstones will get some new drivers.

In order for a speaker system to be considered a "reference" it must be the best. I felt that the Scan Speak tweeter used in the Duet10ss surpassed the sound quality of the Seas DXT1212 hybrid tweeter. Even though this is an excellent tweeter, the Air Circ is my current favorite. The Air Circ also will allow shallower slopes- which was another consideration for this facelift. ...

I'm starting a no compromise design today that will use the new Illuminator Air Circ dome tweeter, Accuton C90 mid, and Scan Speak 26W aluminum cone driver. Kit pricing will be around $2800 for the drivers and crossovers. This should compete with speakers costing $20k or so.

We can't wait to hear this one. I'm shooting for completion by the end of April. I'll try to document the build with the cabinet builder here.

Jed's comments after testing: "FR in room with a large gate, so reflections take part below 300hz. The small dip at 200hz is a room side wall reflection, and will not really be there in most situations etc. But still, it is amazingly flat from 200hz up to 20k!"

Hey everyone.

First off let me say how awesome Jed is. I happen to be fortunate enough to live within about 15 minutes of Jed and already have a set of the R44 speakers he designed. Jed helped me with the carpentry work that I do not have the tools to do well enough without massive tolerances. Anyways, that's my shoutout to him for being a stand up guy. Now to the review of these phenomenal speakers.

Ok. So I went to listen to these speakers today (4T's, courtesy of Jed) and to ...

So what kit would you recommend for my listening space?

So my "theater" is a pretty small room at the moment, 9 x 12, although it has a 3' wide open hallway to my bedroom. Room used for music about 75-80% of the time, stereo only, although i would need a matching or closely matching center for movies. The screen is 7 feet wide on the 9' wall, leaving only a foot of space on each side or 31 inches under screen.

I am currently using Cryolite DIYs across the front (RS180s, B&G Neo3). Amp is an Onkyo 805, sources are Marantz DV6001 SACD ...

Folks that know me over at AVS Forums (userid: Bear5K) know me as more of a video guy, rather than an audio guy. That being said, I've had the same pair of B&W monitors for almost 10 years now, and it's time for a change. I look at the space underneath my speakers where the stands are and keep thinking, "I could get a compact 3-way into that same space, and get rid of the sub AND get better sound." I had come across the Duet design in looking at Jed's site, and the more I drew and ...

Hi Jed,

My name is Stuart and you helped me in the right direction on the other forum, Thanx! I have looked at most of the designs on that forum and this one and i must say that the 4T is the speaker that most grabbed my attention. Here is the catch - I live in South Africa!!! the cost of getting the kit here would bank crupt me. I would like it if you could send me the X overs (at a higher price, i would understand) so that i can get the drivers through friends and family in the USA and ...

Dynamic 4T custom curved cabinet build.

Ok so I kind of went through all of this on 3 different forums now But I figured I'd be nice and post it in Jed's forum as he is the designer. I may not go into quite as much detail as I did before but I'll try.

For starters let's talk about the design a bit. With mine I wanted to maximize low end output so I opted for a larger cabinet then what Jed originally designed. Also I had known since the last speaker I built that I wanted to do a curved cabinet. So I started working up a cabinet ...
