4CC,4T&1S Build
Hi Jed, finally started my build for the dynamic series speakers. I have most of the MDF cut for all the speakers, I have a question about the speaker binding plates. Your diagrams do not show where these should be and there are no photo's of the rear of the finished speakers (4CC,4T,1S). Do I cut a hole completely out for the speaker binding plate or is a recess cut into the MDF and small holes drilled out for the wire to pass thru to the cabinet? The other question I have is; for the speaker driver cut outs the front baffle is a straight cut and the backer baffle is tapered / chamfered out at a 45 degree angle to let the Driver "breathe"...is that correct? It's hard to tell from your pictures.
Thanks,

Re: 4CC,4T&1S Build
You can cut a a hole out for the terminals. It can be placed above the port on the 4T and in the middle of the cabinet on the 4CC. It doesn't really matter, so it is a personal choice depending on your own setup and access for the wiring.
The midrange opening is done in "steps" with the inner circle cutout roughly the same diameter as the driver itself until you get to the side of the cabinet, and there I used a jigsaw to go flush with the side wall, so I wouldn't weaken the side wall by cutting it away. The outer part of the baffle has the driver flush mounted with a recess and the hole for the midrange is cut out at 4". I recommend taking a look at some of the reference build threads here in the forum for the pictures of that.
You can do the openings around the chamfer with a chamfer but because the cabinet is narrow, you want to leave some of the wood on the sides and going with a large chamfer around the circumference may cause a weak spot on the sides. So you have to be careful and plan.

Re: 4CC,4T&1S Build
Oops, I hope I haven't made a mistake on the 4CC and the 4T's, I had the driver holes cut out on a CNC machine, and we might not have taken into account the side walls and the baffle where you made straight cuts with your jig saw), so that would mean that I may have to replace some material (cut out some small crescent shapes of MDF and glue them in to fill in over top of the side walls and partitions), otherwise the drivers won't sit properly!! I'll have to dry fit every thing and bring the drivers into work and check to see if this is what happened.

It really depends on how you did the front baffle. That is if you have it extend the full width for both layers with the circles cut out etc.
